FJ Rabon Ahead of Exciting Changes for Better Service

Ben Rabon holding EZ Flow Drainage System

South Carolina has significantly changed its approach to public health and the environment. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has been split into two new agencies: the Department of Public Health (DPH) and the Department of Environmental Services (SCDES). This change took effect on July 1, 2024. If you're considering a new septic system for your home, this information is essential. Read on to learn more!

What You Need to Know About the New Permit Process

If you want a septic system permit, you must navigate a new online portal through the SCDES. The wait time can be around four weeks or more, which can be frustrating if you’re in a hurry. Want to speed things up? You’ll have to pay extra. If the inspector approves your site for a traditional septic system, you will be given a Permit to Construct. If the inspector does not approve the permit, they will discuss potential alternatives with you. The list of Frequently Asked Questions on SCDES site may answer some of your questions. Remember that getting everything in order before applying will help smooth the process.

FJ Rabon and the EZ Flow Drainage System

At FJ Rabon, we use the EZ Flow Drainage System. This gravel-less approach is designed to improve drain field performance by eliminating the fines and reducing compaction and embedment associated with traditional stone systems. The EZ Flow units come preassembled with a 3" or 4" perforated drain pipe, all held in place with durable, high-strength netting.

Why is this a Game Changer?

  • Less Tree Cutting: Because it requires less digging, you won’t have to chop down as many trees. That’s better for your yard and the environment!
  • Recycling: Using recycled materials in the EZ Flow System means less landfill waste. We’re turning trash into something useful.
  • Improved Performance: The EZ Flow System's design enhances drain field performance, making it a more efficient choice for managing wastewater.
  • Faster Installation: The pre-assembled units make installation quicker, saving you time and potentially money.
